Sebaceous filaments or blackheads?

Sebaceous filaments or blackheads?

Sebaceous filaments are often confused with blackheads. And the confusion is understandable: sebaceous filaments and blackheads generally appear on the nose, chin or cheeks, and they look exactly alike! So how do you tell the difference between sebaceous filaments and blackheads? Which ingredients are best for tightening pores, getting rid of blackheads and reducing the appearance of sebaceous filaments?

How to recognize them?

The sebaceous filament is a natural structure found in every pore: tiny channels that transport sebum to the skin's surface to nourish the cutaneous barrier. If your sebum production is too high or your pores are pores are dilatedsebaceous filaments are more visible. The problem with sebaceous filaments is that they can turn into blackheads.

A blackhead is an open comedo: a combination of sebum, dead cells and debris clogs your pore. This plug is in direct contact with the air, so it will continually oxidize until it turns black.

What are the differences between sebaceous filaments and blackheads?

So there are several differences:

- Blackheads are an occasional problem that can be solved. Sebaceous filaments, on the other hand, are part of the skin's structure: you can minimize their appearance, but you'll never be able to get rid of them.

- A blackhead is dark, brown and almost black. A sebaceous filament, on the other hand, is quite light, grey or with a yellowish tinge.

- When a sebaceous filament is extracted, a sort of sebum column emerges. A blackhead, on the other hand, looks like a lumpy plug.

Which ingredients are best?

To prevent excess sebumWe're looking for niacinamide to regulate lipid production and strengthen the skin barrier. And just the thing, since our purifying lotion is enriched with niacinamide.

To prevent clogs and blackheadswe look for AHA and BHA. These are exfoliating acids that dissolve the sebum, dead cells and debris that cause blackheads, and purify the pore. Our imperfections serum is concentrated in glycolic acid, an AHA extracted from sugar cane. It also contains niacinamide: the perfect serum for tightening pores!

To reduce the appearance of sebaceous filamentsdouble cleansing is a good idea. Grease attracts grease, and it's with this principle at heart that we designed thecleansing oil. It's the best way to cleanse excess sebum from the pores. Together with cleansing jellythese two products are enriched with calendula to soothe the skin. You'll see an immediate (but temporary) reduction in your sebaceous filaments!
