Le Botox®, qu’est-ce que c’est ?

Botox®, what is it?

In recent years, thanks to advances made in dermo-cosmetics, more and more anti-aging treatments are now applied topically (on the surface of the skin), however, injections remain a solution to make wrinkles disappear. temporarily and Botox® often comes up on the list of preferred treatments, but do you really know what Botox® is and how it acts on the skin?

The origin of Botox®

Botox®, also known as botulinum toxin, comes from a bacterium Clostridium botulinum which may not mean anything to you but which is the cause of a well-known disease, botulism. It was the work of Dr Alan Scott at the end of the 20th century which made it possible to see the first uses of botulinum toxin for aesthetic purposes thanks to the use of this molecule in the treatment of strabismus.

The action of Botox®

Today, botulinum toxin is a safe treatment, used in injections to counter the effects of skin aging, smooth wrinkles and give the face a smoother appearance. Indeed, if it is injected in very small quantities into specific muscles, botulinum toxin causes temporary paralysis which makes it possible to relax the muscles responsible in particular for expression lines such as forehead wrinkles, paw wrinkles. goose spots located at the corners of the eyes or even the frown lines between the eyebrows.

Although Botox® is an excellent anti-aging treatment, it is however temporary because its effects fade within three to six months; the procedure must then be repeated, the prices of which vary to reach several hundred euros. Furthermore, botulinum toxin injections are not without risk; they can modify facial expressions, which is why topical (which are applied to the surface of the skin and do not require injection) and natural alternatives are emerging.

Botox®-like active ingredients, the secret of better-aging

We know that from the age of 25, collagen production gradually decreases, so we recommend that you include active ingredients known for their anti-aging properties in your skincare routine. More than smoothing wrinkles, they will also penetrate the dermis thanks to cellular communication to boost the cells and thus sustainably improve the elasticity of the skin.

This is where so-called Botox®-like active ingredients come in, natural alternatives to the injections we talked about in this article. Spilanthes , Argireline , Leuphasyl, Gatuline®... these active ingredients are more and more numerous and more and more accessible in that they are found in anti-aging creams, facial serums or even oils which makes it easier to integrate them into your skincare routine.

Thanks to their muscle-relaxing effect, these active ingredients reduce muscle contractions by blocking nerve signals, which helps smooth wrinkles and fine lines and improve the firmness of the skin. You will find these Botox®-like active ingredients in our new TensioLift Oil formulated with a complex of three active ingredients whose objective is to provide a lifting effect from the first application and lasting thanks to the gradual reduction of wrinkles (-18% of wrinkles* after 28 days of use).

*VisioFace 1300D instrumental test under dermatological control carried out on 8 people with wrinkle measurements taken on D0 and D+28.
