Today, we decipher together the 60-second technique, which has been shared many times on social networks by different dermatologists. But what does this method consist of? It is in fact, quite simply, a deep 60-second facial wash.
Imagine the same technique for brushing your teeth or hair but in skincare: whether for the face, mouth or hair, cleaning time is essential, cleaning too quickly does not allow certain textures to transform. For example: when you use a makeup remover oil, if you do not go through the step of massaging your face by emulsifying the product with water, you risk having an oily film on the skin and clogging your pores rather than cleaning your skin well! This will have the opposite effect to that expected and could cause more discomfort to your skin.
What does it consist of?
The skin has a hydrolipidic film on its surface, a mixture of water and fats that maintains the hydration of the epidermis. When we use cleansers that are too strong, we not only remove impurities, but also this protective film. But we can also have the opposite effect; if we use cleansers that are well dosed but are used incorrectly, this can cause imperfections for example.
This is where the 60-second rule comes in. When using cleansers specifically designed for the face, it is crucial to give them enough time to work effectively on the skin. You may not feel an immediate clean feeling after cleansing if you haven’t given the surfactants enough time to emulsify and remove all the impurities from the skin. That’s why we recommend taking a minute to massage your face with an oil when you double cleanse in the evening, for example, and doing the same with your cleansing gel.
Sometimes, rather than looking for new routines or investing in expensive products, you just need to take the time to properly apply the products you already use.
A very simple technique
Here's how to do it:
- With your makeup remover oil : apply it to dry skin and make circular movements for 1 minute, covering all areas, don't forget the wings of the nose which are often prone to blackheads. Then, apply water and emulsify the oil; it must absolutely turn into milk on your entire face. For example, don't forget to emulsify it well on your temples otherwise you risk ending up with tiny spots on the surface. Once it has turned into milk, rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. At the end of cleansing, you should feel comfortable but without a greasy film on your skin.
- With your cleansing gel : pour some into the palm of your hand and rub your hands together to create a fairly dense foam. Then, apply this foam all over your face (already damp!) using circular movements. Make sure to massage the product for 60 seconds. Then, again, add water to transform the foam and emulsify it. Finally, rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water and gently pat your face dry with a clean towel. That's all.
Which cleansers should you use?
Your cleansers should be tailored to your skin type: normal, dry, oily, combination, sensitive, etc.
If you don't know your skin type, go here . In any case, choose a cleansing oil with gentle surfactants and cleansers enriched with soothing active ingredients like our Cleansing Jelly , based on Calendula, to cleanse your skin without altering the skin barrier.
