La technique de "l'oil gritting"

The “oil gritting” technique

Have you heard of the oil gritting technique? In connection with the 1st step of double cleansing, this technique consists of massaging the skin for long minutes with makeup remover oil in order to eliminate numerous residues on the surface of the skin. On many videos on social networks it is said that this technique allows you to eliminate blackheads, above all it allows you to eliminate sebaceous filaments, dead cells and possibly whiteheads.

But how does it work?

Quite simply, fat attracts fat so by using a cleansing oil it will act as a magnet for all so-called lipophilic residues - residues which are soluble in fat.

Be careful though, the goal is not to attack your skin and sensitize it. First of all, if you want to use this technique, you absolutely must do it without cotton. Indeed, if you use cotton pads to do this, with the repetition of circular movements you risk creating micro-lesions on the surface of the epidermis. Please note that the cotton fiber on the scale of your epidermis is almost comparable to glass wool because of its structure. And above all, the cotton will drink the oil and therefore it will not be comfortable. Besides, oil gritting or not, never use cotton pads to use makeup remover oil otherwise it will not be effective!

Then for the movements, simply massage your skin gently with circular movements. Don't press too hard or go too quickly, but you can emphasize certain areas if you feel some irregularities under your fingers. If you feel like you don't have a lot of "impurities" on your fingers and/or that your skin is reddening or getting hot, don't insist indefinitely. It is surely that your skin does not present this type of impurities. Then, take the time to emulsify the material so that it turns into milk. Otherwise you risk leaving oily residue which could clog your pores and create new blackheads.

Is it really effective?

This technique is ultimately a new concept to talk about the first step of double cleansing, because in fact if you remove makeup with oil, you are already massaging your face. We tested this technique for some time and it depends on the person; certain skins will eliminate whiteheads more easily for example but which would certainly have gone away on their own thanks to the use of complementary treatments and other skins have no "residues" after using this technique.

But it is true that it may be interesting to carry out a longer massage several times a week on certain areas to eliminate all impurities. Without forgetting to use complementary treatments if you wish to target particular problems; if you have blackheads use treatments based on AHA and possibly BHA (namely we exclude it from our development charter because it has been classified CMR 2 since 2020, that is to say classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic and toxic for reproduction), if you have irregular skin texture, use AHAs and PHAs and if you have imperfections, use instead bakuchiol , niacinamide and AHAs for example.

What to do next ?

We then don't forget to carry out the second step of double cleansing with an aqueous phase, i.e. a cleansing gel for example. After the oil, it eliminates the last so-called hydrophilic impurities such as dust and perspiration. Our cleansing jelly contains calendula and glycerin to hydrate and strengthen the skin barrier.

makeup removal, an essential step

Throughout the day, the skin, like a sponge, will absorb pollution, makeup and even sunscreen. It is therefore important to rid the epidermis of these impurities to allow it to breathe and regenerate. Therefore, removing makeup is an essential step to prepare your skin to receive the care and everything it needs to be healthy. Clean skin is happy skin!

why an oil?

Remove makeup, yes, but with the right products! It is important not to attack the skin during this step so as not to unbalance it and make it vulnerable to future external aggressions. Removing makeup with an oil helps respect the skin's hydrolipidic film while deeply cleansing the epidermis by capturing lipophilic impurities. (makeup, SPF, pollution, sebum.)

What’s special about our oil? In addition to being 99.5% natural, it rinses perfectly! Its oil texture transforms into milk on contact with water for a non-greasy finish. Enriched with calendula, it cleanses while soothing the skin for supple and comfortable skin.

The little extra: the oil texture of our makeup remover is perfect for massaging your face using your fingers or a gua sha.

the importance of double cleansing

It’s the gesture that changes everything! To ensure that you don't leave any residue of impurities on your skin, it is important to double cleanse . In fact, certain hydrophilic impurities resist makeup remover oil. Thus, an aqueous cleanser will perfect your make-up removal for clear and purified skin. After using the cleansing oil, use our cleansing jelly. Enriched with calendula, to perfect cleansing the skin without damaging it. It contains glycerin, a moisturizing active ingredient that helps restore the skin barrier.
