Quels actifs boostent le bronzage ?

What active ingredients boost your tan?

To achieve an even and long-lasting tan, certain ingredients contained in skincare products can be very useful. Most of them act by boosting the production of melanin, giving us a luminous and radiant complexion. Discover the essential active ingredients to optimize your tan.

Why do certain ingredients affect your tan?

Some active ingredients promote tanning by acting on the production of melanin, the pigment responsible for skin color. Melanin acts as a sort of protective shield against UV rays, absorbing some of their energy to protect skin cells.

Certain ingredients, like amino acids and antioxidants, can stimulate melanin production, leading to a faster, deeper tan. For example, tyrosine, an amino acid found in many tanning products, is a precursor to melanin. By providing the skin with the nutrients needed to produce melanin, these active ingredients can help achieve a deeper, longer-lasting tan.

Other ingredients, such as plant extracts, can have a stimulating effect on melanocytes, the cells responsible for melanin production. By promoting melanocyte activity, these ingredients can also contribute to a faster and more even tan.

So, the active ingredients that promote tanning act by stimulating the production of melanin or by promoting the activity of melanocytes , which allows you to obtain a more uniform and long-lasting tan.

Which ingredients should you choose to boost your tan in your skincare?

  • Marine Oligosaccharides : Marine oligosaccharides, composed of magnesium and manganese, mimic the action of endothelin, a hormone naturally released by skin exposed to the sun. They stimulate tyrosinase, the enzyme responsible for the production of melanin, thus promoting the creation of pigment without UV exposure.

  • Acetyl tyrosine: This active ingredient promotes the synthesis of melanin, thus contributing to a faster tan.

  • Chasteberry: By binding to opioid receptors on melanocytes, chasteberry also stimulates melanin production, even in the absence of sun exposure.

  • Annatto or Roucou: Annatto, rich in minerals and beta-carotene, moisturizes, repairs and protects the skin from the harmful effects of UV rays. By stimulating the production of melanin, it offers a tanned complexion while providing an instant healthy glow thanks to its orange color.

  • Carrot Oil: This oil, rich in minerals and vitamin A (beta-carotene), prepares the skin for the sun, promotes the production of melanin and prolongs the tan, while providing an immediate healthy glow. In addition, its antioxidant properties protect the skin against free radicals.

  • Peptides: Present in tanning activator treatments, these peptides, like acetylhexapeptide, boost melanin synthesis.

  • Self-tanning ingredients: Dihydroxyacetone (DHA) and erythrulose are molecules used in self-tanners. They react with the amino acids in the skin to create a tan without sun exposure. Erythrulose works more slowly than DHA and has moisturizing properties.
