You often ask our facialists this question when you come for a treatment in our Skin Studios. If you missed our article on the recommended order to apply your routine , here are our tips.
What is a serum and why is it important?
The serum is a concentrate of active ingredients that prepares the skin for the application of your skincare routine. Unlike cream, its texture is more fluid and light which allows it to be absorbed very quickly by the epidermis, which is why it is very important. There are as many serums as there are skin problems to allow you to adapt your routine by using, for example, a hydrating serum on the lower face and a mattifying anti-blemish serum on the T zone if you have combination to oily skin.
“In the serum, the molecules are smaller and penetrate the skin deeply, which makes it possible to treat a targeted problem. »

Facial serum or moisturizer?
Both ! If the serum provides the skin with a bonus in the form of active ingredients which will treat a problem, the cream is there to balance it by providing it with the dose of lipids and hydration it needs. Using a universal or neutral moisturizer and a serum makes it very easy to adapt your routine and treat the skin locally.
“Moisturizing cream is essential because it acts as a barrier against external aggressions (cold, pollution, etc.) and prevents dehydration. »

When should I apply my serum?
The serum is the first product to be applied once the skin has been cleansed, we advise you to apply it just after drying the face in order to take advantage of the pores of the skin being dilated to boost its absorption. You can use a serum in the morning and evening and alternate the active ingredients according to the needs of your skin (menstrual cycle, season, feeling).
