Le Skin Cycling, qu'est-ce que c'est ?

What is Skin Cycling?

Launched by a New York dermatologist, this routine has gone viral on social networks and promises perfect skin in just 4 days. Its principle? B uilding a 4-night cycle, this evening routine focuses on a single key ingredient to be applied each evening. It is then a matter of alternating the assets with the objective of returning to the essentials rather than multiplying the steps and types of products, which can sometimes cancel out their benefits.

After the layering trend and sometimes lengthy routines, Skin Cycling advocates a return to basics in 3 key steps: exfoliate, treat and repair.

STEP 1: EXFOLIATE

After having done a double cleanse (generally we recommend cleansing oil + cleansing jelly), the 1st step of Skin Cycling is exfoliation. But what is it for? One of the main causes of dull complexion is the accumulation of dead cells on the surface of the epidermis. And yes, your skin renews itself every 21 to 28 days and during this cycle , your skin cells gradually rise to the surface to “die” before new cells take over. It is therefore necessary to exfoliate the skin regularly to improve its texture and appearance. Be careful, however, not to do just any exfoliation; we recommend chemical exfoliation and not mechanical (as in grain scrubs).

For exfoliating active ingredients, we advise you to look for targeted treatments - rather masks - enriched with AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids) such as glycolic acid or lactic acid. These two acids allow the skin to be chemically exfoliated. They penetrate deeper into the epidermis (depending on the size of the molecule) thus boosting cell renewal. The result: a more uniform complexion, reduced spots, smoother skin texture and above all a new skin effect after application.

The Seasonly solution? Our peeling mask with AHAs and fruit enzymes.

STEP 2: TREAT

In the "classic" version of Skin Cycling, Dr. Whitney Bowe recommends the use of retinol in step 2 of the routine but at Seasonly, this ingredient is one of the potential irritants that we have decided not to use. We therefore offer you its plant-based alternative: bakuchiol .

Indeed, bakuchiol has the advantage of being a natural antioxidant with anti-aging and anti-inflammatory properties. It is therefore perfect for treating various key issues such as wrinkles, spots, scars and even imperfections. Like retinol, it is a derivative of vitamin A - THE vitamin responsible for good cell cohesion. Its advantage? It has the same properties as retinol without the disadvantages.

The Seasonly solution? All you need to do is slip 2 to 3 drops of our bakuchiol booster into our rich cream morning and evening to boost cell renewal while strengthening the production of collagen and hyaluronic acid (two essential molecules which contribute to the elasticity of the skin). 'epidermis).

STEP 3: REPAIR

As the first two nights of Skin Cycling are quite intense for your skin with a big boost in your cell renewal. The next two evenings focus on repair; both to protect your skin barrier but also to provide the skin with everything it needs to have a new look.

Favor moisturizing and repairing active ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, aloe vera, ceramides or panthenol for example. These active ingredients plump up the skin giving it an immediate plumped effect. They are also perfect for combating dehydration lines and marked features. Your microbiome is thus better protected and your complexion is more radiant.

The Seasonly solution? The hydrating mask enriched with aloe vera and hyaluronic acid (of two different molecular weights), to leave on in a thin layer all night.

There you go, now you know everything about this miracle routine which promises results in just a few days. Don’t hesitate to test its effect and keep a “skin diary” by taking before/after photos. You will quickly see that your skin texture is smoother, your complexion more radiant, that your spots have diminished and that your skin is more plump. Glass skin effect guaranteed!
