Summer is the season when our skin is most exposed to the elements, it is also when it is most fragile. Between the sun, heat and humidity, it is essential to implement an effective and appropriate skincare routine.
Sun protection: essential
If you only have to choose one product to take in your suitcase this summer, it's your sunscreen: in mist, stick or drops, it helps protect the skin against the sun's harmful rays. Indeed, when the skin is exposed to the sun for a prolonged period, it will produce more melanin to protect itself (this is what gives it this golden appearance) but this protection is not sufficient and over-exposure can lead to premature aging of the skin and the appearance of skin cancers.
Choose the right protection and opt for a broad-spectrum sunscreen, with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 30, if possible water-resistant. Apply your sun protection generously and regularly, it is important to apply sunscreen 30 minutes before going out and reapply at least every 2 hours, or more often if you swim or sweat.
Hydration – The secret to luminous skin
Healthy skin needs lipids (fat) and hydration (water) to keep it looking plump and comfortable throughout the day. With the heat, it is sometimes difficult to find the right routine in summer and to avoid the greasy finish that certain creams can leave, it can even be tempting to not use anything and leave the skin bare, however, dehydrated skin will have tendency to produce more sebum in order to strengthen its hydro-lipid film (thin layer covering the epidermis), the skin will then be oilier and imperfections may appear, it is therefore essential to moisturize the skin daily.
Opt for a light moisturizing cream and mix a few drops of our Hyaluronic Acid Booster to reinforce its hydrating effect. Apply your cream before your sunscreen or use a moisturizer containing SPF to protect your skin. We also recommend using products containing vitamin C or vitamin E which help fight free radical damage.
Cleaning - The step that makes all the difference
With perspiration, sand, salt water and sun protection, the skin is put to the test in summer, so it should be cleaned with gentle, non-astringent products so as not to alter the skin barrier.
Using a cleansing oil will rid the skin of impurities and sunscreen residue without damaging its hydro-lipid film. Additionally, we recommend using a thermal mist, hydrating mist or purified water in the morning to hydrate and cleanse the skin.
