If the skin naturally produces collagen and elastin, it is from the age of 25 that it begins to lose 1% each year. It then gradually loses its firmness and volume: this is skin aging . Muscles tend to atrophy over time; this is what makes the skin appear less tight. In addition, by contracting every day, they are the cause of the first expression lines. Don't panic, however, even if this process is completely normal, there is a great solution for prevention and treatment: facial exercise. In the same way that sport allows us to stay healthy, facial gym takes care of the 50 muscles of the face and neck.
Areas to target
The natural aging process appears first in certain areas:
- Wrinkles in the outer corner of the eyes, also called crow's feet,
- Wrinkles and folds marked between the two eyebrows like a frown, also called frown lines,
- Wrinkles and indentation of the skin from the corners of the lips to the sides of the nose, also called nasolabial folds,
- A loss of firmness at the oval level which makes the features appear less defined.
Each area of the face requires specific massage techniques and accessories. The main principle for erasing wrinkles in facial gym is to go in the opposite direction of the wrinkle to smooth it. For forehead wrinkles, for example, you need to make a vertical movement back and forth to smooth out the horizontal wrinkles.
We often recommend doing facial exercises in the evening, either when removing makeup or as a final step in your routine. The advantage of the evening is that it boosts the cellular regeneration of the skin which takes place at night. However, it can also be done in the morning, in particular to erase dark circles and decongest the oval area. To massage yourself, we advise you to use our new TensioLift oil ; the effects of the massage will boost its botox effect.
Most facial gym movements are designed to stimulate lymphatic circulation and therefore drain toxins towards the lymph nodes. Blood microcirculation is reactivated, giving an instant healthy glow. By massaging, we stimulate the fibroblasts; super cells responsible for the production of collagen and elastin. In addition, training the muscles allows them to be stretched so that they take up more space under the skin, which gives this immediate tightening result.
Crow's feet
Crow's feet are fine wrinkles located on the outer corner of the eyes. They are formed and accentuated when the eyes smile! Mushrooms are perfect for the eye area: they help to deflate bags under the eyes, reduce dark circles by reactivating blood circulation and smooth crow's feet.
Take your mushrooms (you can cool them in the fridge, it's great!) or your fingertips. With light pressure, begin your movement at the bridge of the nose, below the inner corner of the eye. Gently pass over the pockets to the underside of the crow's feet. Go up vertically with more intense pressure to smooth out crow's feet.
The lion's wrinkle
The frown line is a set of wrinkles between the eyebrows: these are the ones that give the impression of constantly frowning. And it is precisely by gathering them that they form! Your fingertips or gua sha are perfect for working and smoothing frown lines.
Take your gua sha or your fingertips. After applying your TensioLift oil , take the wavy side of your gua sha. Pass it horizontally so as to go in the opposite direction of the wrinkle. Manually, place one finger on the right corner of the start of the nose and another finger above the start of the left eyebrow. Make an S shape with your skin by running your fingers inward.
The nasolabial folds
The nasolabial folds are two wrinkles running from the sides of the nose towards the corner of the lips. They form naturally and are accentuated by the expressions we make when we smile, for example. Your fingertips or gua sha are perfect for working and smoothing nasolabial folds.
Take your gua sha or three of your fingers. After applying your oil, take the flat, long side of the gua sha. Position the flat of the gua diagonally to your skin on the nasolabial fold. Stretch the skin outwards towards the cheekbones. Manually, tap with your fingers making slight stretches towards the outside of the face. Do this for about thirty seconds.
The oval of the face
The oval of the face is an area that tends to store toxins and fatty tissue. It is then normal that the features appear less defined and that the oval is not very “sculpted”.
Take your gua sha, jade roller or your fingers. After applying your oil, take the long, flat side of the gua sha. Position the gua sha diagonally to the skin, with the rounded side pointing toward the floor. Start from the jaw then go down to the neck, bringing the gua sha between the shoulder and the collarbone. If you have a jade roller, simply roll it down from the jaw to the neck.
Then manually, form a hook with the first phalanx of your index finger and that of your middle finger: start from the middle of your chin to your ear by "pinching" the framework of the oval in order to reshape it and evacuate the toxins towards the lymph node areas.
